WIELAND ACQUIRES MARJAN AND NASCO
Red metals distributor Wieland Metal Services, formerly A.J. Oster, closed its acquisition July 31 of two Waterbury, Connecticut-based companies. Marjan Inc., which also has a facility in Montgomery, Illinois, offers a range of hot-dip tin coatings to its global customer base. Nasco Inc. provides specialized toll slitting services to its U.S. customers. The merged entity will operate as Wieland Marjan.
Feralloy to open facility on Nucor campus
Toll processor Feralloy Corp., Chicago, plans to locate a $17.5 million facility on Nucor Steel Gallatin’s campus near Ghent, Kentucky, to level and cut steel for customers throughout the Ohio Valley region. At a leased 60,000-square-foot facility, Feralloy will receive steel coils directly from Nucor’s mill, then cut and level them into custom sized sheets. The company expects to start up operations in October, with one shift of 15 employees. Over time, the company will add a second shift and hire more people to run the cut-to-length and leveling line.
ALRO STEEL OPENS CLEVELAND-AREA BRANCH
Alro Steel, Jackson, Michigan, opened a 12,000-square-foot retail service center in Euclid, Ohio. Alro Metals Outlet stocks a broad range of metals, industrial supplies, and plastics in standard sizes. The store also carries remnants that are suited for small projects. In-house equipment includes a band saw and shearing equipment so that orders can be cut to size while customers wait. Alro provides same-day delivery to the Cleveland area.
